At Kettering Osteopaths we see patients with all sorts of joint and muscle problems, not just those with back pain or sciatica. Lots of our Patients are people who have hurt themselves by pulling muscles or straining ligaments and joints, or are suffering the effects of well “wear and tear.” Some people have postural or occupational injuries, either through heavy manual work or sitting for long periods, whilst others have sports injuries or have had an accident.
Some conditions, such as tension headaches, stiff necks, or whiplash injuries can be treated with gentle osteopathic techniques, whereas patients with things such as frozen shoulders, knee injuries or ankle sprains may also benefit from being prescribed a series of rehabilitation exercises in conjunction with the “hands on” techniques that we use here in the practice.
Our team of qualified osteopaths are able to offer help and advice on a wide range of musculoskeletal-skeletal conditions from the head to toe. We have experience of treating conditions as diverse as headache and jaw problems, right down to plantar fasciitis and ankle sprains.
Although the majority of our patients are between 30 and 60 years of age, we regularly see babies and young children, as well as patients in the 70-90 age group. One of the advantages of osteopathic treatment is that it is tailored to the individual patient and their particular problem, it is not just a series of exercises or a “one size fits all” approach.
Every new patient has a case history and examination performed on their first visit, to ensure that osteopathy will be able to help with their symptoms. If we feel that their is a more suitable form of intervention, or there is a need for further investigation or imaging, then we will usually arrange this for the patient, either by writing to the patients doctor or by referring them to another therapist.
Here at Kettering Osteopaths we also have acupuncture, hypnotherapy, podiatry and massage therapy all available for patients, and appointments for all of these forms of treatment can be booked through our reception staff.
If you have a particular problem or condition, and are unsure as to whether osteopathy may be able to help you, please feel free to contact our receptionists, who will be happy to talk to you, or pass you on to one of our team, if you wish to discuss your questions in more detail.
