Hypnotherapy Explained

Hypnotherapy is most easily described as a treatment designed to change our behaviour and remove emotional problems using hypnosis. While there are lots of different types of Hypnotherapy most people assume that it involves hypnotising someone and suggesting to them that their unwanted behaviour will change, or that their problem has disappeared. However, many are unaware that there are different types of Hypnotherapy that work in different ways.

I use two types of hypnotherapy: Suggestion Therapy which is designed to control or manage symptoms, and Analytical Hypnotherapy which aims to resolve the underlying cause of the problem. Both therapies use hypnosis as an aid to suggestion or recall, helping the client to overcome fears, phobias, anxiety and many more symptoms.

Your first Hypnotherapy Session

For both types of Hypnotherapy we begin with a chat. It is important that you feel comfortable and understand what the treatment entails. It is also important for me to understand a little about you so that we can work together and ensure you get the most from the therapy.

Next I will explain the type of therapy we are going to use and why that particular one is best suited to you and your symptoms. I will also explain what is going to be expected from you; for example, am I going to do all the talking (suggestion therapy) or are you going to take a more active role (analytical hypnotherapy).

Everyone is offered an initial consultation (no charge) so that we can go through things in bit more detail and decide on the best course of action for you. We can discuss what sort therapy is most appropriate and I will be able to give you a better idea of the number of sessions required, and what it would entail.
